SUMMARY:Orchestra Camp - June 3-14\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Aurora School of Music’s Orchestra Camp and Festival is a two week collaborative music experience with the ASM Philharmonic Orchestra for students under the age of 18\, based on audition\, on May 25\, 2024. This opportunity offers a two week Monday through Friday schedule with classes and professional orchestra training taught by our Resident Conductor\, Yun Cao\, and ASM faculty. This will be an exceptional resume building opportunity for dedicated music students! \nPlease note that this camp is open to everyone who passes the audition requirements. We are thrilled to welcome you to our wonderful ASM community! \nEach day\, a meal and snack is provided\, as well as water and juice boxes. We encourage students to bring a water bottle to refill. \nASM Philharmonic Orchestra Camp and Festival: \nCamp (week 1): Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm\, June 3rd-7th\, 2024\nGala Rehearsals (week 2): Monday-Friday from 10am-2pm\, June 10th-14th\, 2024 \nJune 14th\, 7pm: ASM Summer Gala featuring the ASM Philharmonic Orchestra and soloist with a pre-show at 6:30pm featuring the Orchestra Camp’s composition project! \nTuition of $495* covers:\n-Your daily meal and snacks\n-Conductor and faculty led sectionals\n-Orchestra history and literature\n-Orchestra rhythm training\n-Orchestra blending technique\n-Orchestra Composition project\n-Ear training and theory classes\n-Percussion ensemble rhythm class\n-Masterclass by Annie Fullard of the Cavani String Quartet\n-One complimentary ticket to our Summer Gala on June 14th \nAuditions will be held on May 25th in our Concert Hall by the ASM resident conductor\, Yun Cao\, and the founder & director of ASM\, Ms. Vera Holczer-Waroquet. \nAudition Requirements:\nAll major and melodic minor scales up to four sharps and four flats\nA virtuosic and a lyrical selection of two excerpts from the June 14th Gala concert’s repertoire\nexcerpts will be emailed at least three weeks prior to the audition\nAudition excerpts are selected from the Summer Gala concert repertoire listed below:\nMozart Symphony No. 25 & No. 29\nMozart Piano Concerto No. 20\n“Zigeunerweisen” op. 20 by Sarasate \nNote that if chosen to perform in the Summer Gala\, you will be paid for your performance as this is a professional gig.
