Our mission is to showcase\, recognize\, and inspire the diverse talent of young pianists across Ohio. We are delighted to be a part of your musical journey and look forward to hearing your performance! We’ll see you soon! \nEligibility\nAny piano student\, 7–18 years old\, who is a resident of Ohio and is currently enrolled in piano lessons. Students compete in a division based on their age as of March 1\, 2022. \nApplication\nStudents will apply for the 2022 Aurora Young Artist Competition: Piano Division by submitting an online form and a digital copy (or scan) of each piece they will perform.\nWhen completing the online form\, be ready to list the title\, composer\, and duration of each piece\, as well as the name and email for the student’s piano teacher. A digital copy of each piece can be uploaded to the online form or may be emailed to the Aurora School of Music at auroraschoolofmusic@gmail.com. All digital copies must be received by April 25\, 2022. Please note\, you can not change your repertoire after you submit your application. Apply at https://forms.gle/X3a6mxsWTcmaTYuYA \nLocation\nAll competition events will take place in person at the Holczer-Waroquet Concert Hall at the Aurora School of Music\, located at 211 South Chillicothe Road in Aurora\, Ohio. All performances must be in person and cannot take place virtually. Family and friends are welcome to attend their student’s performances! \nSchedule\nApril 25th: deadline for applications; late applications will require an additional $25 fee.\nApril 25th: deadline for receipt of all digital copies of competition repertoire.\nApril 28th: performance times are announced and delivered via email.\nApril 30th: competition takes place from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Aurora School of Music. \nRequirements \n\nA minimum of two contrasting pieces from different time periods.\nA third contrasting piece is preferred but not required.\nAll pieces must be original: no arrangements\, transcriptions\, or method books.\nAll pieces must be performed from memorization.\nFor Division I: Elementary\, a maximum of 8 minutes of music may be performed.\nFor Division II: Junior\, a maximum of 12 minutes of music may be performed.\nFor Division III: Senior\, a maximum of 15 minutes of music may be performed.\n\nJudging\nStudents will be judged by three distinguished international pianists; the names of the judges will be announced at the conclusion of the competition.
