DESCRIPTION:Introduction\nThank you for your interest in the 2022 Aurora Young Artist Competition: Piano Division! Our mission is to showcase\, recognize\, and inspire the diverse talent of young pianists across Ohio. We are delighted to be a part of your musical journey and look forward to hearing your performance! We ask that you please take some time to review the following information and requirements for the competition. Should you have any questions\, please do not hesitate to contact us! We’ll see you soon! \nEligibility\nAny piano student\, 7–18 years old\, who is a resident of Ohio and is currently enrolled in piano lessons. Students compete in a division based on their age as of March 1\, 2022. \nApplication\nStudents will apply for the 2022 Aurora Young Artist Competition: Piano Division by submitting an online form and a digital copy (or scan) of each piece they will perform.\nWhen completing the online form\, be ready to list the title\, composer\, and duration of each piece\, as well as the name and email for the student’s piano teacher. A digital copy of each piece can be uploaded to the online form or may be emailed to the Aurora School of Music at auroraschoolofmusic@gmail.com. All digital copies must be received by April 25\, 2022. Please note\, you can not change your repertoire after you submit your application. Apply at https://forms.gle/X3a6mxsWTcmaTYuYA \nLocation\nAll competition events will take place in person at the Holczer-Waroquet Concert Hall at the Aurora School of Music\, located at 211 South Chillicothe Road in Aurora\, Ohio. All performances must be in person and cannot take place virtually. Family and friends are welcome to attend their student’s performances! \nSchedule\nApril 25th: deadline for applications; late applications will require an additional $25 fee.\nApril 25th: deadline for receipt of all digital copies of competition repertoire.\nApril 28th: performance times are announced and delivered via email.\nApril 30th: competition takes place from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Aurora School of Music. \nRequirements \n\nA minimum of two contrasting pieces from different time periods.\nA third contrasting piece is preferred but not required.\nAll pieces must be original: no arrangements\, transcriptions\, or method books.\nAll pieces must be performed from memorization.\nFor Division I: Elementary\, a maximum of 8 minutes of music may be performed.\nFor Division II: Junior\, a maximum of 12 minutes of music may be performed.\nFor Division III: Senior\, a maximum of 15 minutes of music may be performed.\n\nJudging\nStudents will be judged by three distinguished international pianists; the names of the judges will be announced at the conclusion of the competition. Students will receive feedback from each judge. All decisions of the judges are final and not subject to repeal or revision\, including withholding placement. \nAwards\nFirst\, second\, and third place winners in each division will be awarded a monetary prize. \nDivision I: Elementary (ages 7 to 10)\n1st prize $300.00; 2nd price: $100.00; and 3rd Prize: $50.00 \nDivision II: Junior (ages 11 to 14)\n1st prize: $500.00; 2nd prize: $175.00; and 3rd prize: $75.00 \nDivision III: Senior (ages 15 to 18)\nMattlin Hyde 1st prize: $1\,000.00; 2nd prize: $350.00; 3rd prize: $120.00 \nEntry Fee\nAn entry fee of $75.00 is required for each student. Payments may be made by credit card\, Venmo\, echeck\, or paper check\, and can be processed after an online form has been submitted. Payments are due by April 25th at 9:00pm. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, January 15\, 2022 – 3PM-7PM \nFeaturing performances by ASM vocal students and JR Fralick with classical  and musical theater selections! \nTenor Dr. JR Fralick has served on the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory faculty since 2001 and joined the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival in 2005. Always open to new ideas\, Fralick has explored original cabaret songs\, performing them in a number of venues\, most notably on the Cleveland Playhouse’s “Cabaret Sampler” concerts. He was also featured in Cleveland Public Theater’s dance concert\, “Companions\,” about which Linda Eisenstein of Cool Cleveland wrote “It was worth attending just to hear JR Fralick’s melting sonorous tenor in Ricky Ian Gordon’s ravishing song cycle Genius Child.”Fralick’s expertise is nineteenth-century Russian music and Russian diction for singers. He is in great demand for masterclasses and residencies on the subjects\, and Leyerle Press published his anthology\, “Twenty Arias for Tenor\,” from the nineteenth-century Russian repertoire. He has taught courses on Russian vocal literature and diction\, applied voice\, music history\, opera history\, vocal pedagogy and opera workshop.
