SUMMARY:Marc Weagraff - Voice Masterclass
DESCRIPTION:Vocalist Marc Weagraff will present a masterclass to the voice students of the Aurora School of Music!\nPlease join us in welcoming vocalist Marc Weagraff for a masterclass in the Holczer-Waroquet Concert Hall on Tuesday\, November 1 at 5:00 PM. Mr. Weagraff is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Vocal Studies Department at Baldwin Wallace University’s Conservatory of Music. \nBio: \nDr. Marc Weagraff has a firmly established reputation as a teacher of excellence. His students have performed with national and international opera programs\, in leading roles on Broadway\, in numerous national tours\, on national television and have been accepted to top-tier graduate programs in voice. Weagraff studied voice with Lorna Haywood and George Vassos and choral conducting under Theo Morrison. His opera credits include roles with The Utah Opera Company\, Lyric Opera Cleveland\, Cleveland Concert Opera\, Michigan Opera Works\, The University of Michigan\, The University of Michigan Gilbert and Sullivan Society\, and the Cleveland Institute of Music as well as numerous performances in musical theater programs. Several of his performances have been broadcast over WCLV (Cleveland) and KBYU (Provo\, UT) radio. Equally at home with oratorio repertoire\, he has performed as soloist with the internationally renowned University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club\, the Utah Symphony educational series\, Master Singers\, Inc. and many regional choral organizations. He has been heard in recital throughout the region including various academic\, church-sponsored and social concert series venues. Before coming to BW\, Weagraff was the director of music ministries at St. Noel Church in Willoughby Hills\, OH. His choirs have performed in Rome and Assisi\, Italy including the worldwide telecast of the 2007 New Year’s Day Papal Mass at which Pope Benedict XVI was the presider and in concert at San Ignazio Church. They also performed throughout the greater Cleveland area including at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and the regional National Association of Pastoral Musicians convention in July 2008. Weagraff maintains private voice studios in New York and Cleveland and has become a sought-after choral and liturgical clinician. \n

DESCRIPTION:Clarinetist Dan Gilbert will present a masterclass to the clarinet students of the Aurora School of Music!\nPlease join us in welcoming clarinetist Dan Gilbert for a masterclass in the Holczer-Waroquet Concert Hall on Thursday\, October 27 at 4:00 PM. Mr. Gilbert is a former member of the Cleveland Orchestra and a renowned professor at the University of Michigan\, Case Western Reserve University\, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. \nBio: \nClarinetist Daniel Gilbert joined the faculty at the University of Michigan as Associate Professor of Clarinet in 2007. Previously\, he held the position of Second Clarinet in the Cleveland Orchestra from 1995 to 2007. Mr. Gilbert teaches at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and he also served as the Associate Professor of Clarinet at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music from 2000 to 2001. A native of New York City\, Mr. Gilbert received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and both a Master of Music degree and a Professional Studies Certificate from The Juilliard School. Before joining the Cleveland Orchestra\, Mr. Gilbert was active as a freelancer in New York City\, appearing regularly with groups including: The Metropolitan Opera\, American Ballet Theater\, New Jersey Symphony\, Solisti New York\, the Stamford Symphony and the New Haven Symphony\, where he played principal clarinet from 1992 to 1995. Mr. Gilbert was a member of the Quintet of the Americas in 1994-1995. The group toured throughout the United States and was in residence at Northwestern University. He has appeared as soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra\, the Cleveland Heights Chamber Orchestra\, the Suburban Symphony Orchestra\, the New Haven Symphony\, Solisti New York and the Aspen Mozart Orchestra. He is an active chamber musician\, playing regularly on the Cleveland Orchestra Chamber Series\, the Cleveland Museum of Art Chamber Series and the Oberlin Chamber Music series. Mr. Gilbert’s master classes and recitals have received critical acclaim throughout the world. His teachers have included David Weber\, Robert Marcellus\, Stanley Hasty\, Richard Waller\, Burt Hara and Judith Kalin-Freeman.
