Master of Music in Saxophone Performance (proj. graduation 2017) – University of Akron

Sarah Miracle is currently pursuing her Master of Music in saxophone performance at The University of Akron. She received her Bachelor of Music Performance with an emphasis in jazz studies from The University of Akron in 2015. Sarah is currently the principle saxophonist in both the University of Akron Symphonic Band and Orchestra, lead saxophonist in the University’s jazz ensemble, and has participated in numerous chamber ensembles in the classical, jazz and new music areas. Her primary teachers have been Todd Gaffke, Rich Shanklin, Jack Schantz, and Chris Coles.

Sarah was named the winner of the 2014 Undergraduate Concerto Competition at The University of Akron, and was selected as the School of Music’s 2015 Presser Scholar for outstanding musical and academic achievement. In 2015, she was selected as the School of Music’s recipient of the Agnes Fowler Collegiate Scholarship from the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs, and was named the Outstanding Undergraduate Woodwind Student. She was also selected to perform with the Four Point Reflection Saxophone Quartet at the North American Saxophone Alliance regional conference in Chicago in 2015. In addition to being an active performer, Sarah is also the saxophone instructor for Wadsworth City Schools and Copley High School and has maintained a private teaching studio for 8 years.
