Lucas Whorten started playing the trumpet when he was in 7th grade, and has been playing for over 7 years. He is from Youngstown and went to school in the Austintown school district. In high school, he was section leader of the trumpet section, and received the P.O. Cline award. During his time in school he participated in 2 honor bands: the D5 Honors Band in which he was first chair, and the D5 Honors Jazz Band in which he was 2nd chair. He has also been gigging around the Youngstown area for several years with local churches and with the band “Ovation” for weddings. He holds a BM from YSU in music education. During his time at YSU he performed in a variety of their bands such as: Jazz Ensemble, Brass Quintet, and Wind Ensemble. He is also in a local band called “No Funk, No Justice.”
