Dr. Alexandria (Alex) Hanhold is a soprano, educator, and lifelong lover of all things voice, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2022, she earned her Doctorate in Vocal Performance from The Ohio State University where she also completed the programs distinctive Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization in Singing Health and a Graduate Certificate in College and University Teaching through the College of Education. She is a proud alumna of the prestigious National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Intern Program (2025), a unique and immersive training program pairing expert master teachers with early-career voice instructors.

Over the past decade, Alex has had the privilege of working with singers at the professional, pre-professional, and avocational levels, helping them develop confidence and healthy technique across a variety of musical styles. Her teaching experience spans community music schools, colleges, and private studios, most recently serving as Adjunct Professor of Voice at the University of Toledo. Passionate about cross-genre training, Alex helps her students find versatility and joy in their singing—whether in classical, musical theatre, or contemporary styles. She is excited to bring her experience and enthusiasm to the Aurora School of Music community.

As a performer, Alex’s most recent roles include Cinderella in Into the Woods, Marian in The Music Man, Johanna in Sweeney Todd, and Carla Silverton in the Ohio premiere of Griffin Candey’s opera Sweets by Kate. In 2023, she was featured as the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with her alma mater, the University of Akron. In addition to performing, she enjoys working as a music director and conductor for musicals, with recent productions including Once Upon a Mattress and Catch Me If You Can.
