Thank you for your interest in the 2023 Aurora Young Artist Piano Competition! Our
mission is to showcase, recognize, and inspire the diverse talent of young pianists
across Ohio. We are delighted to be a part of your musical journey and look forward to
hearing your performance! We ask that you please take some time to review the

Any piano student, 7–18 years old as of January 1, 2023 who is currently enrolled in
piano lessons. Repertoire must be original works, no transcription or method book
material. Further repertoire information can be found on the sign up link!
Students will apply for the 2023 Aurora Young Artist Piano Competition by submitting an
online form and a digital copy (or scan) of each piece they will perform.
When completing the online form, be ready to list the title, composer, and duration of
each piece, as well as the name and email for the student’s piano teacher. A digital
copy of each piece can be uploaded to the online form. All materials for enrollment in
the competition must be received by April 15, 2023. Please note, you can not change
your repertoire after you submit your application. Find the application and judges bios

Students will be judged by three distinguished international pianists whose bios may be
found on the QR code above. Students will receive personal handwritten feedback from
each judge. All decisions of the judges are final and not subject to repeal or revision,
including withholding placement.
All competition events will take place in person at the Holczer-Waroquet Concert Hall at
the Aurora School of Music, located at 211 South Chillicothe Road in Aurora, Ohio. All
performances must be in person and cannot take place virtually. Family and friends are
welcome to attend their student’s performance! Once you arrive for a division
performance, you are expected to stay for the entire division. Please respect all
performers in your division and stay for the duration of your division. You are not
required to be an audience for other divisions, though you are invited to stay!
Schedule
April 15th: deadline for applications; late applications will require an additional $25 fee.
April 28th: performance times are announced and delivered via email.
April 30th: competition takes place from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Aurora School of
Music.
● A minimum of two contrasting pieces from different time periods.
● A third contrasting piece is preferred but not required.
● All pieces must be original: no arrangements, transcriptions, or method books.
● All pieces must be performed from memorization.
● When uploading your pieces in the sign up link, please include measure numbers
● Students in Division I may perform up to 8 minutes of music
● Students in Division II may perform up to 10 minutes
● Students in Division III may perform up to 12 minutes of music
● Students in Division IV and V may perform up to 15 minutes of music
An entry fee tiered on division is required for each student. Payment information must
be provided in the initial enrollment. All entry fees will be manually charged once the
application is submitted. Please allow time for the charge to be reflected in your
account. Late applications will require an additional $25.00 fee. Only applications with a
completed payment will be considered.
Awards are also tiered by division. Monetary prizes will be rewarded to 1st place, 2nd
place, and 3rd place winners.
