Cibel Mendez began her musical studies in Venezuelan at age 16. She went on to complete her undergraduate degree in 2019 from La Universidad de Los Andes de Venezuela. Over the years, she has provided viola instruction for children, and she has led workshops for children’s orchestras, including for the Bogotá Philharmonic School Project. With fellow adult musicians, she has performed chamber music as part of a string quartet and has played with orchestras, including her time as principal viola of the Symphony Orchestra in the State of Merida, Venezuela. In 2021, Cibel obtained a scholarship as a Graduate Assistant at Kent State University in the Music Performance Program, and recently obtained her Master’s Degree on Viola Performance. Currently, Cibel is awarded with a scholarship as a Graduate Assistant at Cleveland State University, where she is seeking an Artist Diploma on Viola Performance.
