David Mendieta began his violin studies at the age of 12 in the city of Zipaquirá, Colombia. From there he pursued his study in violin performance at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá where he received his undergraduate degree under the tutelage of violinist Juan Carlos Higuita. In 2014, he toured Cataluña, Spain with the National University Conservatory’s Symphony Orchestra.
David performed internationally in festivals such as the International Music FEMUSC 8th in Brazil (2013), the International Festival of Emeralds in Ecuador (2015, 2016, and 2018), the International Music Festival of Cartagena in Colombia (2016), the Young Philharmonic of Colombia (2017), the Winter International Music Festival Campos do Jordao in Brazil (2015 and 2017), the International Violin Competition Frank Preuss in Ibagué, Colombia (2018),  the Portillo Music Festival in Chile (2019), the Kent Blossom music festival in US (2022) and he performed and worked in the Bogotá Youth Chamber Orchestra for three years (2016-2019).
In the Spring of 2022, David received his Master of Music in Violin Performance from Kent State University, in the Chamber Music program under the tutelage of Amy Lee, Associate Concertmaster of The Cleveland Orchestra. Mr. Mendieta is currently pursuing a master’s degree in violin performance at Cleveland State University with Professor Peter Otto, Concertmaster of The Cleveland Orchestra.
