Originally from New Philadelphia, Ohio, Jennalee Quillen attended Kent State University where she studied music education with a percussion concentration and world music. She has performed in numerous ensembles including the Kent State Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, and African Ensemble.

During her time at Kent State, Jennalee served on the executive board of the Kent Percussion Society. In 2018 she received the Marcus L Neiman Music Education Scholarship as well as the Konya Music Scholarship in 2021. Jennalee is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Percussive Arts Society, the National Association for Music Education, and the Ohio Music Education Association.
