Education:Justin Wisner joined the Akron Symphony Orchestra as Principal Clarinet beginning in the 2025-2026 season. He is an avid educator and freelance musician. Mr. Wisner is currently on the faculty as Lecturer of Clarinet at Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Performing Arts. He teaches students of all ages and abilities, both online and in-person. He has experience teaching ensembles and individual lessons ranging from beginner to the collegiate level.
Mr. Wisner is a current member of the Cleveland Wind Trio, actively performing community concerts across the greater Ohio region. As a guest musician, he has also performed with many orchestras and organizations, including the Blossom Festival Band, ChamberFest Cleveland, the Cleveland Ballet, CityMusic Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, Firelands Symphony, Mansfield Symphony, and the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. He recently as a soloist with the Aurora Youth Philharmonic.
Mr. Wisner has worked with conductors including Franz Welser-Möst, JoAnn Falletta, Ludovic Morlot, Robert Spano, David Effron, and Tania Miller. He has appeared on world-renowned stages including Blossom Music Center, DeVos Performance Hall, Isabel Bader Centre, Kauffman Center, the New World Center, and Severance Hall. Mr. Wisner is an alumnus of various summer programs, including the Aspen Music Festival, the Hidden Valley Music Seminar, the Mostly Modern Music Festival, the Henri Selmer International Clarinet Academy, and the Miami Music Festival. He was the third-prize winner of the 2017 Henri Selmer International Solo Competition.
Justin Wisner completed his Master of Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He holds an Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Michigan State University. His notable teachers include Afendi Yusuf, Franklin Cohen, Joaquin Valdepeñas, Mingzhe Wang, and Tasha Warren-Yehuda.
