Runen Li embarked on her musical journey at the age of 9. In 2018, Runen was awarded the 2nd prize at the 3rd Hong Kong International Strings competition. The following year, she claimed the 1st prize in the solo competition of the Cleveland Institute of Music International Academy.

Not confining her ability solely to solo performances, Runen thrives as a chamber musician and is a member of the Shenzhen Cello Association. In 2018, her cello quartet was contracted by ACOrange, captivating audiences of over 10,000 in 7 cities during the “Sound of Laurel” tour. The resounding success of the tour served as a prelude to the quartet’s debut album, “Hallo Cello,” released in 2021 in collaboration with Tencent Music, which was accompanied by a series of music videos.

In the summer of 2023, Runen was invited to the Chamber Music Dolomiti in Northern Italy, collaborating with world-renowned musicians. She also won the cello fellowship position at the Britt Festival Orchestra the same summer. Embracing diverse musical experiences, Runen has been a participant in various music festivals, such as NYO-China, CAYO – Cuban American Youth Orchestra Ambassador program, Sitka Cello Seminar, Jhao-Yin Academy, Keshet Eilon International Master-Course in Israel, and the Ascent International Chamber Music Festival.

Her educational journey commenced at the Shenzhen Arts School under the tutelage of former principal cellist of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra – Professor Yihao Zhang. Today, having obtained her bachelor’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music with both CIM Institution Scholarship and Recognition award. Runen continues to pursue her musical endeavors by undertaking a Master’s degree program at the same institution, studying under the guidance of leading pedagogue – Dr. Melissa Kraut. Beyond her performances and studies, she remains actively involved in musical education as a registered SAA Suzuki American Association member. Runen enjoys connecting with souls through the cello. During her non-cello time, she likes to explore local restaurants and crystal stores.
