Ruoyao Li is an accomplished violinist celebrated for his exceptional technical
mastery and expressive artistry. Li holds an Artist Diploma and a Master of Music
degree in Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he
studied under the guidance of distinguished professors and top soloists Ilya Kaler
and Olga Kaler.
Li’s extensive chamber and orchestral music experience includes performing with
the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Erie Philharmonic, Canton Symphony
Orchestra, Akron Symphony Orchestra, City Music Cleveland Chamber Orchestra,
and Mansfield Symphony Orchestra. His leadership abilities were highlighted
through his appointment as Assistant Principal Second Violin with the Akron
Symphony Orchestra and regular appearances as Concertmaster of the Akron
Symphony Orchestra, demonstrating his capacity to excel in a variety of ensemble
settings. His chamber group, the Canore String Quartet, is one of the top chamber
groups at the Cleveland Institute of Music and was coached by the Emerson String
Quartet, one of the world’s most celebrated and esteemed chamber ensembles.
Li’s artistry has been showcased at numerous prestigious festivals, including the
Bowdoin International Music Festival, Keshet Eilon International String Summer
Course, the Sommermusik IM Oberen Nagoldtal Guzman Masterclass, and the
Lexington Bach Festival. He has also been featured at the Gonggeng International
Chamber Music Festival, Liangchu International String Festival, Interharmony Music
Festival, and Shanghai International String Festival, laying the groundwork for future
achievements.
Li made his solo debut at the Tel-Aviv Arts Center in 2016, a milestone that marked
the beginning of a remarkable solo career. Since then, he has delivered
commanding performances of major violin repertoire, including the Tchaikovsky
Violin Concerto with the Shanghai Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and
Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Singapore Philharmonic Orchestra,
showcasing his virtuosic technique and profound musical interpretation.
Li has had the distinct honor of performing on both a J.B. Vuillaume and a Karl
Richter violin, exquisite instruments generously on loan from the prestigious Rin
Collection since 2015, which have greatly enriched the brilliance and depth of his
artistic expression.
