Ruth Dessire Logan began studying piano in her native Toluca, Mexico at the age of eight with Ms. Alfonsina Garcia. At ten she was the pianist at her church in Toluca. She played six instruments (piano, organ, violin, guitar, flute and marimba) but her love for piano was immense. At 12 she gave her first piano solo recital. At 13 she won first prize at Mathematics Competition at her school. She was also first place in swimming and running competitions at her school and earned a red belt in Judo and Karate competitions. She graduated with Honors from the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico city playing three piano concertos, her piano teacher was Mrs. Ana Ma. Baez. Ruth was also awarded with the medal “The best student of Mexico”. She had played live on Mexico city and Cleveland’s classical radio stations, Radio Educacion and WCLV 104.9 FM, respectively. After winning first prize in the National Piano Competition “Carmen Valles” in Mexico city, Ruth Dessire won a full scholarship to attend The Cleveland Institute of Music under the tutelage of Mr. Paul Shenly and Mrs. Maxine Stevens where she received her Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance. Upon returning to Mexico, she was appointed Head of the Piano Department at the Conservatory of Music in Toluca. She was also a piano teacher at Conservatory in “San Pedro Totoltepec” State of Mexico. During this period, in addition to carrying a full teaching schedule, privately and at Conservatory, she was also an active recitalist and chamber musician playing with strings, winds, vocal and percussion instruments. Ruth had played with members of the Symphony Orchestra of the State of Mexico and National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico City. She also participated in Piano Master Classes with internationaly renowed pianist such as Bernard Flavigny, Carlo Cuciniello, Edith Pitch-Axenfeld, Jose Sandoval, Piotr Paleczny, Mark Zeltser, Balint Vazsonyi to name a few. She traveled to Nicaragua to give recitals and Master Classes with cellist Laszlo Frater, director at the Conservatory of Music in Toluca. Ruth had played as a soloist with Symphony Orchestra of the State of Mexico, National Conservatory of Music Orchestra, Fine Arts Chamber Orchestra.
Ruth was also the choir pianist at University of the State of Mexico.
Ruth was active at her church in Toluca playing in Sunday services, pianist and Director of the Main Choir, pianist and Director of the Woman Choir and she was also appointed Coordinator of the Music Department.
Ruth was the Director and Musical Accompanist at the work-shop “Into the Woods” , Jr. at Geauga Lyric Theater Guild in Chardon, Ohio.
She was the pianist of the Choir at Lake Catholic High School in Mentor, Ohio.
Actually she plays the piano and the organ on Sunday Services and as accompanist with the Church Choir at Newbury United Community Church, Newbury, Ohio.
Ruth has been a piano teacher at Aurora School of Music in Aurora, Ohio since November 2003, where she received the “Outstanding Teacher Award”.
